The
national MDGs - an integrated multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral
framework to address poverty, unemployment and social exclusion
To fight poverty successfully it has to be fought in all sectors of
human development - such as economic development, education, health,
environment, trade, youth employment, new technologies and good governance.
The national MDG process also encourages the collaboration and coordination
between different actors form the governmental and the non-governmental
sector to assure coherence and mutual reinforcement of policies, to
avoid duplication and to facilitate coordination between different
development partners. |

The national MDG consultation process
|
the way it is organized
The mulit-sectoral approach is reflected in the way the national
MDG process is organized. Different dimensions of poverty are discussed
in the working groups
- economic factors,
health, education,
environment, and poverty
reduction. Task Forces assure that issues such as gender,
HIV/AIDS and governance
are considered in all working groups.
All the Ministries whose work is related to one of these issues
are included in the process and have representatives in the MDG
Government Task Force.
Moreover, experts from the governmental and non-governmental sector,
academia and the private sector are participating in the different
working groups.
The participation of the NGO sector is organized in partnership
with the Civic Platform
of Macedonia, who was asked to identify the NGOs that are participating
in the working groups and to assure broader consultation within
the NGO sector. The latter will be organized during the NGO
Fair, which is going to take place from 3rd to 5th December
2004.
