Beyond devastating the health of individuals and communities, HIV/AIDS
can weaken the basic economic and social infrastructure of the countries.
HIV poses a threat to all types of assets (e.g., human, financial,
physical, social, natural, and capital) and thus the response to
the epidemic should be multi-sectoral one.
