Global cooperation today is based on the commitment of the international
community to work together to promote poverty reduction and human
development as the key to sustaining social and economic progress
as outlined in the Millennium Declaration in September 2000. The
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a set of inter-related goals,
targets and indicators provide a single framework, which allows
to measure progress and to enable all parties to hold each other
accountable for common objectives.
Aid recipient countries committed themselves to achieve the Millennium
Development Goals and donor countries promised to increase aid and
to support their efforts.
Achieving the MDGs will necessitate a coordinated effort of the
donor community - globally and on the national level.
As part of the national MDG process in Macedonia a working group
"Partnership for development' will be established in order
to discuss how the donor community can support the country in achieving
its development objectives.
