The MDGs - a guide to define development priorities

To suit their own national context and to take into account national development priorities countries individually adapt and define the MDGs.

For Macedonia the MDGs represent a unique opportunity to enhance its ongoing development plans. Used as a guiding tool, a pointer in the right direction, the MDGs can assist Macedonia to:

• Define national development priorities
• Define its own long term development strategy
• Set realistic development goals achievable by 2015
• Reach a social consensus on development issues
• Mobilise political leaders, the business community and development partners
• Monitor progress towards EU standards
