Is a multilateral development agency assisting Governments to strengthen public sector management, promote private sector led growth and strengthen social safety.

At a glance:

The aim of the World Bank is to improve the living standards of the population and foster the economic development of the country.

It encourages the country’s reforms in the areas of public sector management, business environment, education, social protection, health, agriculture, infrastructure, energy and decentralization.

It is working with many other development partners, to support Macedonia’s European aspirations by facilitating changes that will bring its economic policies closer to those of the European Union.

It helps strengthen the country’s management of public resources so as to use them more efficiently. The Bank also assists Macedonia build institutions to achieve long-term economic prosperity.  

It supports the improvement of the climate for private investment, which is key to multiplying jobs and reducing poverty. World Bank assistance to Macedonia also aims to create the right judicial environment for private businesses to thrive.

It is one of the largest investors in the health, education and social protection sectors in the country.

It advices and supports the Government of Macedonia in its efforts to improve the quality of primary education, as well as health, pension and social protection programs—key to supporting Macedonia’s most vulnerable people.
