This year, the focus of the World AIDS Day was on Universal Access and Human Rights. The marking of the day offered an opportunity to highlight the importance of the human rights perspective and HIV and AIDS, particularly focused on the right to live and the right to health. HIV and human rights was the central theme, promoted with the campaign slogan “I am living my rights. Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise”.

On the occasion of the International Day for Elimination of the Violence against Women, and following extensive nationwide campaign for prevention of domestic violence, the UN agencies in the country together with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy organized an open educational and awareness raising event in the center of the capital.

On Monday, 16 November, the Mission of the European Union, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Council of Europe organized a panel discussion on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), at the EU InfoCentre.
